Lucy Minerals Review!!

Lucy Minerals is a small company based in Florida that specializes in loose mineral products. They are handmade products that contain no parabens, mineral oil, petroleum or bismuth oxychloride. They also are cruelty free! In my experience, they have great sales and customer service.

I've been using Lucy Minerals for about 2 and a half years on myself, so I know the product very well. I've also used it on older, oily skin with large pores as well. Scroll down to see before and after pictures.

Their most popular product is their loose mineral powder foundation. It conveniently comes in four formulas to cater to your skin type.

Formulas:
  • Original formula
  • Oil Control Formula with Calcium Carbonate
  • Oil Control Formula with Silica
  • Lucy Light which has none of the antioxidants that the other formulas have.
My Skin Specs:

  • Pale with neutral undertones and some redness (Mac NC20/NC15/NW13)
  • Dry/normal cheeks and oily t-zone
  • Very acne-prone when it comes to foundation
What I use:

Lucy Light formula
Pale Olive and Light Medium mixed together (they offer custom mixing but I did that myself)

How does it look on the skin?

This really can give full coverage! It's so creamy to apply. But if you go for a full coverage, I find it looks cakey and textured. Also, if you add too much, it will look lighter. It's hard to explain but this powder on the skin, at some angles can look more white. Maybe you can tell in the photo. Although the colour Pale Olive matched me well, it looked too light on my skin because of that lighter effect the powder gives. In flash photos, I look like a ghost! I needed to get a colour slightly darker and with some pink in it to mix with Pale Olive (so I did and it worked great). Blended out, when it soaks in with your skins oils, the colour will look good. On older, oily skin with large pores, I find this powder looks amazing.

How long does it last on the skin?

I do notice in my t-zone, the product does disintegrate through the day. I'm talking about when i've applied this heavily. It will stay clung to micro dry patches and wear down in the spaces in between those dry patches. That happens only on my nose and sides of nose. Perhaps the oil control formulas help with that or the finishing powder. On the rest of my face, this stuff stays on! It doesn't even come off in the shower with water!

Did it break me out?

Yes, everywhere but my t-zone. It's not their fault, I break out to a degree from everything. I still use it, but not heavily all over my face. Only on spots and t zone. I think it's the titanium dioxide. It makes some people break out. But i'm really not sure if that's what it is.

How long does the product last?

FOREVER. Kidding. But really, this stuff took me over a year to finish with daily, full face use! You get far more than Bare Minerals for a fraction of the cost.

Who is Lucy Minerals good for?

I highly recommend Lucy Minerals to people that:

  • Don't break out easily
  • Have oily skin or large pores
  • Like powder foundation over liquid/cream foundation
  • Want a great, cheap alternative to Bare Minerals
  • Want a powder to match their skin
  • Want a powder to give you coverage
I think people with mature skin would really like Lucy Minerals because it's lightweight and looks amazing.

What EOS lipbalm did to my lips (rash/blister and super dry lips)

BACKGROUND: I've always had a chapped bottom lip. I've never, ever, had a chapped upperlip. I only the EOS honeydew flavour.

On November 29, I developed a tight scabby-like thing on my upper lip. It looked horrible. It was red, dry and tight. Eventually the scab fell off, yet the skin underneath was still read, hard, and tight. I never got anything like this.

I've never had a cold sore, but I thought it might be the beginning of one, even though I didn't have the symptoms off one. (Cold sores also don't last a month and a half and they are painful)

It was so strange. I started to use petroleum and it improved a little. But I still was using my EOS often. Then I started using just EOS again, because I didn't like how petroleum made my lips feel dehydrated when it wore off.

The tight, red hard crust returned week, after week, after week.

I started to Google vitamin deficiencies, cold sores and lip cancer.

I went to the doctor, to see what it was and get a check up. We debated for a while, and he insisted it was not a cold sore. He said it was dry skin or an allergy to lipstick or something. I wasn't buying it completely.I never had an allergy and who gets a reaction to a natural lip balm! By this point, it was starting to itch. I started putting EOS above my lip line to sooth the itch, and the redness and rawness spread above my lip line. I noticed a tingle when eos touched my upper lip, where it was bad. Sometimes it felt like I had fluid coming from the bad spot.

So I stop using EVERYTHING on my lips. They feel horrible. They are dry and cracking, but the rash-thing on my upper lip looks much better.

I log onto facebook, see a huge article of EOS causing lip rashes and blisters. A class action lawsuit had been filed against EOS. The pictures looked similar to what I had, just way worse and spread far around the lip. It clicked in.

EOS is my lipbalm. It caused this lip problem.

The two pictures below this is what I had for weeks. It felt tight and hard. The texture of my lip was changed. The picture below is from two days go, when it got bad. I think it might have blistered. I stopped picking at it and touching it.

I'm shocked that I got this reaction. I've been reading lip sites and noticed a lot of people saying out of no where they got a reaction to products like EOS. I've used EOS for 2 years. I don't think it' a moisturising product, but that's what I used.

Point is, even natural things can cause trouble.

UPDATE: Penaten magically cured my lip! Our house hold Penaten I swear is, 18 years old. Worked like a charm. My lip healed after two days of applications!!
