DIY Strobe Cream | Cheap Dewy Highlighter

I got the idea to mix eyeshadow with Vaseline to get a wet looking highlighter for strobing. It works great. This mixture stays looking wet on the skin for hours because it doesn't soak into skin. Make sure to add a lot of pigment and not add too much on top of your foundation or else it can disintegrate it. Find out more in the video.

MOTD: 3D Copper Gold Eyes & Matte Pink Lip

The concept behind the eyeshadow in this look was to bring out the colour of the eyes by using the multiple colours in the eye. I love doing thins to really make an eye colour stand out. The pink lip we choose contrasts nicely with the warmth of the eyes. Both the eyes and lips are subtly bold.

All Your Vitamin C Serum Questions Answered!

Vitamin C serums have soared to popularity in recent years. They are highly sought after because of their anti-aging benefits, ability to lighten marks left by acne and improve the overall texture and brightness of skin. Basically, vitamin c is an AMAZING antioxidant for skin!!

What Did Vitamin C do for me?

Through experience, I can say i've had a big improvement in my skin after using vitamin c. My post inflammatory hyperpigmention faded faster, the fine lines on my forehead became slightly less apparent, my skin texture smoothed out and my skin seemed brighter and clearer. I'm so thankful for what a particular serum has done for my skin. I stared using the Timeless Skin Vitamin C, E and Ferulic Acid Serum about 2 months ago. It contains 20% vitamin c. I will do a review of that product and show you before and after pictures of my skin.

Dermarollers and Vitamin C

Dermarollers are often used in conjunction with a vitamin c serum. The micro needling creates are suppost to allow the vitamin c to penetrate deeper into skin. This is the theory at least! Vitmain c increases the collagen of your skin. Collagen heals the skin, especially the appearance of acne scars, hyperpigmentation and wrinkles. Microneedling is also used to increase collagen of the skin, by causing micro wounds, therefore forcing your skin skins healing mechanisms into action-which involves an increase in collagen production. So after a few uses, over time your skin would produce more collagen. This process takes time.

What percentage of Vitamin C is Best?

I have sensitive skin. But I have used BHAs and AHAs for two years, which I believe might have helped my skin handle a high dose of vitamin c without any trouble. For 'virgin' skin or sensitive skin, you are best to start with a lower dose of vitamin c and work up to higher strengths. I recommend anything contains 5% or lower

To get the most improvement in your skin, the most effective percentage of vitamin c is at least 20%. You can find many Vitamin C serums in 5%, 10% 15%, 20% and 25%. I have yet to see any serum higher than 25% vitamin c. I find Sephora doesn't carry the most high percent of vitamin c available.

Does vitamin C Go Bad?

YES. Vitamin c is highly unstable. Fortunately, it has been discovered that adding vitamin e and ferulic acid to vitamin c stabilizes it therefore making it last longer. You can expect a vitamin c serum to last 3 months. When it goes bad, it oxidizes and turns a dark yellow or orange colour. Vitamin c hates oxygen, sunlight and heat.

How Can I Extend My Serum?

First of all, make sure you're buying a proper vitamin c serum with proper packaging. This means packaging with minimal air exposure and a tinted or opaque bottle. You need to keep your serum in the fridge to extend it's life. I learnt from a Youtuber called Hot and Flashy that you can make a serum with a 3 month shelf life, last 5 months by putting the serum into two smaller containers. For example, your serum bottle size might be 1 oz (30 ml). You can buy two 15 ml tinted bottle on ebay. Make sure one has a cap lid, and the other has a dropper for use. Keep the capped lid bottle in your fridge for use after you finish the other bottle.

Can I Make My Own Vitamin C Serum with Pure L-Ascorbic powder?

This is a whole other blog post. The answer i'm giving is no. The typical DIY vitamin c serum recipe ingredients are water, vegetable glycerin and l-acorbic acide powder. The short of it is that this recipe is too unstable, the powder does not dissolve and penetrate the skin and the ph can be wrong. You need to add certain ingredients to help stabalize it and allow it to penetrate the skin. You'll be wasting time, effort and money :( I know it sucks!

What happens if I Apply Hydrogen Peroxide With Vitamin C?

A horrible reaction, that's what! I had used hydrogen peroxide for my acne while I had vitamin c on my skin. The next morning, I had red blotches where the peroxide was added to the pimples. Thankfully it washed off with a cleanser and some scrubbing! My theory is hydrogen peroxide is oxygen, so I essentially oxidized my vitamin c serum rapidly on my face. A stupid mistake on my part!

Fun Fact: Vitamin C and E together have some sun protection abilities!

Facial Pad & Cloth Brightening Treatments: Ole Henrikson vs First Aid Beauty

Ole Henrikson The Clean Truth Cleansing Cloths: Brightening

General Thoughts: These have a very strong, sweet smell. Although the smell is pleasant, it's extremely strong. Your face will smell like candy and citrus, which is something I wouldn't prefer. I like that this doesn't leave a sticky residue. I love the ingredients and do feel some extremely mild exfoliation. The pads are nice and damp, but you can't really cut the cloths into small pieces or else it dries out fast and is not enough product for your face. I'd recommend you cut your clothes into halves. You don't need a whole cloth for you face unless you need some serious cleaning or want a to use it as a treatment. The package doesn't close all the way after a while, so you'll need to keep this in a ziplock bag. I didn't notice serious brightening, but rather some smoothing, exfoliation and removal of oil. It's not the best at removing makeup, though it can remove some pretty well with some scrubbing.

Final Thoughts: To me, this feels more of a luxury product. Not something needed, but nice to have. It's a fancy facial wipe. My mom loves this stuff for her skin- which is oily and mature. It's a nice product to buy if you want something to very mildy exfoliate, remove makeup residue, oil and dirt. If you are considering this for fading post inflammatory hyperpigmentation, don't expect much of a change for a few months, if at any. Same goes for anti-aging, I doubt there are any benefits, but that would be a whole other article to explain why. I won't be repurchasing this because it's something I don't need for my skin and I don't like the strong overwhelmingly delicious smell.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Pads

General Thoughts: This seems to be more popular and hyped when it comes to mildy resurfacing face cloths. I personally think they are overhyped. Similar to Ole Henrikson, these have a very sweet, delicious smell. I personally prefer the smell of this more than the Ole Henrikson as it's more subtle. This contains lactic and glycolic acid at 5% which is what gives it it's exfoliating property. I have hyperpigmentation and it didn't do anything drastic to improve my hyperpigmentation at all. But to be fair, I only used the smaller size of this. It does have mild exfoliation benefits. When applying this, I feel some tingle. It also leaves a bit of a sticky residue which I don't like as well as that sweet smell.

Final Thoughts: This is good to use daily to combat and prevent clogged pored. It's great to use after makeup removal to remove any left over makeup residue and oil. If you've never used chemical exfoliation, this is a good first product to break your skin in to it because it's mild. It's good to start at a low percentage of chemical exfoliation for first time users to sensitize the skin to it. It's also good for KP (aka dry rough chicken skin on your face). It's not the cheapest face wipe out there, but for Sephora, it's the best of the cheapest. I personally won't be repurchasing this because I don't feel I need it in my regime. I can achieve the same results this gives with a BHA, AHA serum and toner. I feel like it was very subtle of a difference in my skin, where without use, my skin didn't change or suffer.

Do you think you'll buy these? Have you tried them?

How To Prevent Dark Undereye Creasing and Transferring

Sorry for the close up Cara. I usually get dark under eye circles from mascara transferring under my eye when blinking rather than from liners and shadows. Whatever it is causing your creasing and dark under eyes, i’ve found some ways to avoid this annoying effect. They’re simple and worth the little extra effort.

Every Wet n Wild Dupe for Mac lipsticks!

*Updated in 2017 to be more accurate. Limited edition lipsticks have been removed.*

These dupes are mostly based off colour. Because the Wet N Wild Megalast lipsticks are matte and opaque, there are no sheer Mac lipsticks added to this list. The formulas are not the same of every dupe, though they are all pigmented. Some dupe colours are spot on, others very, very close that I doubt you'd notice a huge difference on the lips.
